Brett Love

Brett is a co-founder of Drouillard Lawyers. Her litigation practices focuses on real estate contract disputes, land ownership disputes, and collapsing real estate deals. She also represents clients with respect to residential tenancy matters, particularly rent increase applications, before the British Columbia Residential Tenancy Branch. Brett has experience with Aboriginal law matters, including land management and Aboriginal title claims.

 

Prior to co-founding Drouillard Lawyers, Brett's legal experience included acting on behalf of the Federal government for regulatory prosecutions and as co-counsel for complex civil litigation and Aboriginal law matters. She worked as litigation counsel on Aboriginal rights and title files as well as on matters before the federal Specific Claims Tribunal. 

 

Brett has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. She has also appeared before a number of administrative tribunals, including the Canada Agricultural Review Tribunal, the Specific Claims Tribunal and the Residential Tenancy Branch of British Columbia.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Brett worked for several years providing institutional research, planning support and project management to the University of British Columbia. In this role, Brett worked on several complex projects to help guide the strategic direction of the University. 

Brett's project management and data analytics background informs the comprehensive and cost-effective approach she takes to addressing her clients' legal needs.  Her publishing experience includes various peer reviewed academic articles in psychology, and she has co-authored a treatise on manufactured housing law in British Columbia.  She is also a real estate law instructor with the UBC Sauder School of Business.
