Tanner Gervin

Tanner’s practice is primarily focused on real estate disputes and can range from complex multi-party construction disputes and large collapsing real estate transactions to smaller residential tenancy matters before the Residential Tenancy Branch.  No matter the size of the file, past clients have praised Tanner’s commitment to their dispute and his open and honest communication about all aspects of their claim or defence. 

 

Tanner has effectively represented clients at all levels of court in British Columbia, including the British Columbia Court of Appeal, British Columbia Supreme Court, and British Columbia Provincial Court. Tanner also has experience before various administrative tribunals, including the Residential Tenancy Branch of British Columbia, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the Civil Rights Tribunal. Tanner has also assisted in preparing factums for use before the Supreme Court of Canada.

 

In addition to Tanner’s time in court, he possesses strong negotiation skills and consistently achieves favourable outcomes when engaging in alternate dispute resolution practices.

 

Tanner currently serves as a member of his strata council and has acted as a mentor to law students and articling students through the Canadian Bar Association’s mentorship program. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Tanner worked in the construction and renovation industry engaging in both hands-on construction and manufacturing work and later managing larger logistical hurdles that naturally come with construction projects. Tanner’s volunteer experience and his work history in the construction industry inform his active and communicative approach to his client’s legal needs while providing a unique lens on the various aspects of the real estate industry, from construction and renovation through to stratification.
